Causes of cracking of seamless steel pipes

The reasons for cracking of seamless steel pipes can be attributed to many aspects. The following are some common reasons:

1. Material quality issues:

The raw materials of seamless steel pipes may have quality problems, such as uneven chemical composition, high impurity content, bubbles or inclusions inside, etc. These defects will reduce the strength and toughness of the steel pipe, making it prone to cracking during processing.

2. Improper heat treatment:

Seamless steel pipes require heat treatment during the manufacturing process, such as heating, quenching and tempering. If the heat treatment temperature is improperly controlled, the heating rate is too fast, the cooling rate is uneven, etc., it will cause stress concentration inside the steel pipe, which will lead to cracking.

3. Processing technology issues:

During the manufacturing process of seamless steel pipes, if the processing technology is unreasonable or the operation is improper, such as too fast a perforation speed, excessive drawing deformation, excessive straightening force, etc., it will cause internal stress or local stress concentration in the steel pipe, thus causing the steel pipe to be damaged. Cause cracking.

4. Corrosion and oxidation:

During the use of seamless steel pipes, if they are exposed to harsh environments such as high temperature, high pressure, and corrosion for a long time, corrosion and oxidation will occur on the surface and inside of the steel pipes, forming oxides and corrosion products. These products will destroy the structural structure and mechanical properties of the steel pipe, making it fragile and prone to cracking.
