Which is better, seamless steel pipe or ERW steel pipe?

Seamless steel pipes and ERW steel pipes each have their own advantages and applicable scenarios, so choosing which steel pipe is better depends on the specific application needs and conditions.

Seamless steel pipe is made of a whole round steel perforated without welds, so it has the following advantages:

1. High strength and high torsion resistance: Seamless steel pipes are produced by hot rolling process and have the characteristics of high strength, high dome resistance and high torsion resistance.

2. Excellent corrosion resistance: The surface of seamless steel pipe is smooth, not easy to adhere to dirt and bacteria, and not easy to rust and corrode, so it has good corrosion resistance.

3. Excellent material: Seamless steel pipes are made of high-quality steel and have high mechanical properties and toughness, which can meet the requirements of different projects.

However, the production cost of seamless steel pipes is relatively high, and due to the limitations of its production process, its production efficiency and material utilization may not be as good as ERW steel pipes.

ERW steel pipes are made by rolling steel plates or steel strips into tubular shapes through the resistance welding process and then welding them. ERW steel pipe has the following advantages:

1. High production efficiency: The production process of ERW steel pipes is simple and can achieve high-speed automated production, so the production efficiency is high.

2. Low cost: Because the production process of ERW steel pipe is simple and the material utilization rate is high, its cost is relatively low.

3. High wall thickness control accuracy: ERW steel pipes use hot-rolled coils as raw materials. The thickness tolerance of modern hot rolling can be controlled within 0.05mm, and the wall thickness control accuracy is high.

However, the welding quality of ERW steel pipes may be affected by many factors, such as welding current, welding speed, welding pressure, etc., so its welding quality may not be as stable as seamless steel pipes. In addition, the corrosion resistance and strength of ERW steel pipes may also be slightly lower than seamless steel pipes.
