How to protect black steel pipes?

Black steel pipes, usually referring to ungalvanized carbon steel pipes, are prone to rust in humid environments due to the lack of a protective layer on their surface. Therefore, in order to extend the service life of black steel pipes, appropriate protective measures need to be taken. The following are some common black steel pipe protection methods:

1. Coating protection: Use coatings such as anti-rust paint, epoxy coating or coal tar enamel to isolate air and moisture to prevent rust.

2. Galvanizing: Form a zinc layer through hot-dip galvanizing or cold-dip galvanizing to provide corrosion protection.

3. Coating protection: Coat the steel pipe with plastic or 3PE anti-corrosion layer, suitable for buried or humid environments.

4. Anti-rust oil: Apply anti-rust oil on the surface of the steel pipe to provide temporary anti-corrosion protection.

5. Cathodic protection: Use sacrificial anodes or impressed currents to protect steel pipes from corrosion.

The selection of an appropriate protection method depends on the use environment, cost and expected service life of the steel pipe. The comprehensive use of multiple protective measures can effectively extend the service life of black steel pipes.
