SAW pipe specifications
The specifications of submerged arc welded straight seam steel pipes (SAW pipes) are usually specified by the following standards:
Standard | Scope of application |
API 5L | For oil and gas pipelines, it specifies the nominal diameter, wall thickness, material grade (such as X42, X52, etc.) and testing requirements of the pipe. |
ASTM A252 | For welded steel pipes used for supporting piles, it specifies the dimensions and tolerances. |
EN 10219 | European standard for hollow steel pipes for cold-formed structures, including dimensions and material properties. |
GB/T 9711 | Chinese standard for oil and gas transmission systems, covering dimensions, tolerances and material properties. |
JIS G3479 | Japanese standard for welded steel pipes for pipelines. |
Common specification parameters:
Nominal diameter (ND): from a few inches to a few meters
Wall thickness (WT): from a few millimeters to tens of millimeters
Length: usually 6 meters, 9 meters, 12 meters, or customized according to needs
These standards and specifications ensure the quality and performance of submerged arc welded straight seam steel pipes in different applications.
