What is ASTM A312?
ASTM A 312 is a specification for seamless and welded austenitic stainless steel pipes that perform well in high-temperature and corrosive environments. The common grades covered by this specification are 304/304L and 316/316L.

Heat Treatment
All pipe shall be furnished in the heat-treated condition
Heat treat temperature for 304/L and 316/L is 1900 deg F (1040 deg C) minimum and then quenched in water or rapidly cooled.
Steel pipes under ASTM A312 standard are mainly used in applications that require high corrosion resistance and good mechanical properties, such as chemical, petroleum, natural gas, food processing, pharmaceutical, etc. These steel pipes can be manufactured by hot rolling, cold rolling, cold drawing or welding to meet the needs of different applications.
