ASTM A179 Cold Drawn Carbon Steel Pipe
ASTM A179 cold drawn carbon steel pipe is a seamless steel pipe produced in accordance with ASTM A179/A179M standard, mainly used to manufacture superheated steam pipes in boilers, heat exchangers and other high-pressure equipment.
During the manufacturing process, a hollow tube blank is first formed by a perforation process, and then it undergoes multiple cold drawing processes to make the steel pipe reach the required size and performance requirements.
The cold drawing process makes the surface of the steel pipe smoother, reducing surface defects and the generation of oxide scale. In addition, the steel pipe also needs to undergo surface treatments such as cleaning, phosphating, and painting to improve its corrosion resistance and service life.
