The difference between ERW steel pipe and EFW steel pipe

There are significant differences between ERW steel pipes and EFW steel pipes in many aspects.

First of all, from the production process point of view, ERW steel pipes are manufactured by resistance welding. It uses the skin effect and proximity effect of high-frequency current to instantly heat the edge of the steel plate to the welding temperature, and then squeezes it by an extrusion roller to form a weld. This method does not require filler metal, and there are no other components in the weld. It has the characteristics of high production efficiency, low cost, material saving, and easy automation. EFW steel pipes use electric heating to melt both ends of the steel plate, and then use welding rollers to tightly combine the two ends to form a seamless steel pipe. This method also has higher production efficiency and lower cost.

Secondly, from the perspective of performance characteristics and application fields, ERW steel pipes have the advantages of fine welds and good mechanical properties. EFW steel pipes have better corrosion resistance and high temperature performance due to their seamless characteristics.

Finally, from the perspective of welding seam processing and quality, the welding seam processing of ERW steel pipes is relatively simple, but high-quality ERW steel pipes will use welding seam online or offline heat treatment to optimize the welding seam structure and improve the welding quality. Due to its seamless characteristics, EFW steel pipes have more precise welding seams and more stable quality.

To sum up, there are obvious differences between ERW and EFW steel pipes in terms of production process, performance characteristics, application fields, welding seam processing and quality. When choosing which steel pipe to use, you need to consider the specific application scenarios and needs.
