Classification of angle steel

Angle steel is a carbon structural steel used in construction. It is a simple cross-section steel material. It is mainly used for metal components and factory building frames.

Classification of angle steel

1. Equilateral angle steel, angle steel with two sides of the same length.

Its specifications are expressed in millimeters of side width × side width × side thickness, such as "∠30×30×3". It can also be expressed by model number, which is the number of centimeters of side width, such as ∠3#. The model number does not indicate the dimensions of different side thicknesses in the same model. Therefore, the side width and side thickness dimensions of the angle steel should be filled in completely on the contract and other documents to avoid using the model number alone. The specifications of hot-rolled equilateral angle steel are 2#-20# (GB/T 706-2016).

2. Unequal angle steel, angle steel with two sides with different lengths.

According to the difference in thickness of the two sides, it is divided into Unequal sides and equal thickness angle steel and Unequal sides and unequal thickness angle steel.

Its side length ranges from 25mm×16mm to 200mm×125mm.

The general specifications of unequal angle steel are: ∠50*32～∠200*125 and the thickness is 4-18mm.

Characteristics of angle steel

1. High strength: Because the angle steel has an L-shaped cross-section, it has high bending strength and load-bearing capacity, and can withstand large loads.

2. Good plasticity: Angle steel is easy to process and can be processed by cutting, bending, drilling, etc., and has strong adaptability.

3. Good anti-corrosion performance: The surface of angle steel is usually hot-dip galvanized, which can improve the anti-rust performance and extend the service life.
