What are the commonly used quality inspection methods for steel pipes?

In order to ensure quality during the production process, we will conduct different tests on pipes with different production processes. There are many ways to inspect the quality of pipes. The following is a detailed explanation of the inspection methods of pipes.

Ultrasonic flaw detection

When ultrasonic waves propagate in metals and other homogeneous media, due to the different reflection waves of the sound waves on the interfaces of different media, it can be used to detect internal defects. Ultrasound can detect defects in any weldment material and anywhere, and is often used in conjunction with radiographic inspection.

X-ray flaw detection

X-ray flaw detection is a method of flaw detection that utilizes the characteristics of rays penetrating materials and attenuating in materials. Radiographic inspection is mainly used to detect defects such as incomplete welding penetration, pores, cracks, and slag inclusions. According to different rays, it can be divided into X-ray flaw detection, high-energy ray flaw detection, and gamma ray flaw detection.

Online flaw detection

Place the pipe on an online flaw detector, and the quality of the steel pipe can be judged through the measurement data. Mainly used for quality inspection of straight seam high frequency welded pipes.

The above three testing methods are our most commonly used quality inspection methods. Only pipes that pass the inspection will be sent to customers. This also ensures the quality of our products and protects the safety of use!
