The difference between stainless steel seamless pipe and welded pipe?

Stainless steel has excellent comprehensive performance and excellent surface characteristics, and is widely used in various industries. Similarly, stainless steel pipes are no exception. Stainless steel pipe is a type of steel with a hollow cross-section, generally divided into stainless steel seamless pipe and welded pipe. There are also certain differences in their processing methods and performance, as follows:

1. Differences in production processes

Stainless steel welded pipes are made by welding steel plates or strips after being rolled and formed by the machine and the mold. There is usually a weld on the inner wall of the pipe; Seamless pipes, on the other hand, use round tube blanks as raw materials for perforation, and are produced through cold rolling, cold drawing, or hot extrusion production processes. There are no welding points on the pipes.

2. Differences in the appearance of steel pipes

Stainless steel welded pipes have a very small tolerance for wall thickness, and the wall thickness of the entire circumference is very uniform; The steel pipe has high precision, high surface brightness inside and outside the pipe, and can be arbitrarily sized; Can make thin-walled tubes. The precision of seamless steel pipes is low, the wall thickness is uneven, the brightness of the inner and outer surfaces of the pipes is low, the cost of sizing is high, and there are also pits and black spots on the inner and outer surfaces that are difficult to remove. Therefore, the seamless pipe walls typically produced are thicker.

3. Differences in performance and price

Seamless pipes have much higher corrosion resistance and pressure and high temperature resistance than welded pipes. With the improvement of the production process of welded pipes, the mechanical and mechanical properties are gradually approaching those of seamless pipes. Seamless pipes are relatively complex in production technology, and their prices are more expensive than welded pipes.

Based on the characteristics and differences between stainless steel seamless pipes and welded pipes, reasonable selection should be made during application to achieve economic, aesthetic, and reliable results.
