What precautions should be taken when storing galvanized steel pipes during rainy seasons to prevent corrosion and rust?

The storage of hot-dip galvanized steel pipes during rainy seasons requires strict adherence to scientific management protocols. To ensure material quality, stacks must be arranged securely and uniformly. Pipes should be categorized and stored separately based on specifications, thickness, and type. This practice effectively prevents mix-ups and mitigates the risk of cross-corrosion between different materials. Furthermore, no corrosive substances may be stored near the stacks, eliminating potential threats at the source.

Proper stack base preparation is crucial for moisture prevention and deformation control. The foundation must be elevated, sturdy, and level. For indoor warehouses, a 0.1-meter elevation on sun-facing concrete floors suffices; muddy ground requires 0.2 to 0.5 meters of elevation. For outdoor sites, concrete surfaces require elevation of 0.3 to 0.5 meters, while sandy or muddy ground necessitates 0.5 to 0.7 meters of elevation, supported by wooden pads or flagstones beneath. The stack surface should maintain a slight slope to facilitate rapid rainwater drainage. Materials must be placed straight and level to prevent bending or deformation from uneven stress distribution.

For specific stacking operations, storage height must be differentiated by handling method: manual operations should not exceed 1.2 meters, while mechanical operations should not exceed 1.5 meters. Stacking width uniformly should not exceed 2.5 meters. Necessary safety passages must be reserved between stacks. Inspection paths are typically 0.5 meters wide, while access passages should be flexibly set based on material dimensions and transport equipment, generally maintained between 1.5 and 2.0 meters. Specific placement orientations apply to different profiles: - Angle steel and channel steel stored outdoors must have their grooves facing downward. - I-beams must be stored upright. - The grooved surfaces of hot-dip galvanized steel pipes must not face upward to prevent water accumulation and corrosion.

Scientific warehouse management also manifests in process optimization. We consistently stack identical materials in the order they entered the warehouse. This ensures seamless implementation of the “first-in, first-out” principle during shipping tasks, guaranteeing rational inventory turnover and maintaining material freshness.

Yangtze Steel Group firmly believes that exceptional product quality stems not only from advanced production techniques but also from meticulous attention to every detail in warehousing and logistics. We are committed to integrating this dedication to professionalism into every stage before product delivery, providing customers with peace of mind from the very source.
