Flattening test and bending test of hot-rolled seamless steel pipe
Flattening and bend tests are important tests used to assess the performance of steel pipes. They are typically applicable to both seamless and welded circular steel pipes with an outer diameter of no more than 400mm and a wall thickness of no more than 15% of the outer diameter. They are used to determine the pipe's ability to undergo plastic deformation under flattening and its ductility under axial bending stress, respectively. They can also detect defects and other issues in the pipe.
The following are videos of flattening and bending tests on randomly selected steel pipe samples from the Yangtze Steel Group (China) Co., Ltd.'s factory. The sample specifications are 20G 83*4 hot-rolled seamless steel pipe (i.e., 20G high-pressure boiler tubes with an outer diameter of 83mm and a wall thickness of 4mm).
