From January through July of this year, China’s cumulative steel exports totaled 64.995 million metric tons
According to the latest statistics from China's General Administration of Customs, in July 2026, China imported 445,000 metric tons of steel, an increase of 4,000 metric tons, or 0.9%, from the previous month; the average price was $1,952.4 per metric ton, up $27.0 per metric ton, or 1.4%, from the previous month. From January through July, cumulative steel imports totaled 3.14 million metric tons, a decrease of 354,000 metric tons, or 10.1 percent, compared with the same period last year.
In July 2026, China imported 108.085 million metric tons of iron ore, a decrease of 4.604 million metric tons, or 4.1%, from the previous month; the average price was $100.6 per metric ton, down $2.7 per metric ton, or 2.6%, from the previous month. From January through July, cumulative iron ore imports totaled 736,841,000 metric tons, an increase of 41,037,000 metric tons, or 5.9%, compared with the same period last year.
In July 2026, China exported 10.121 million metric tons of steel, a decrease of 199,000 metric tons, or 1.9%, from the previous month; the average price was $715.7 per metric ton, an increase of $4.9 per metric ton, or 0.7%, from the previous month. From January through July, cumulative steel exports totaled 64.995 million metric tons, a decrease of 2.987 million metric tons, or 4.4%, compared with the same period last year.
