Two RH Vacuum Refining Furnaces Successfully Pass Hot Testing at Donghai Special Steel.
Recently, Donghai Special Steel successfully completed hot testing of two RH vacuum refining furnaces—Steel Plant No.1 and Steel Plant No.2. Testing confirmed that critical parameters such as furnace temperature and vacuum level met design specifications, while the refractory materials in the immersion tubes demonstrated stable performance under high-temperature loads. This milestone marks a significant step forward for Donghai Special Steel in expanding its refining capacity and enhancing steel quality.
In this project, Sinosteel Luonan and Guoliang New Materials each undertook the overall contracting of one refining furnace. Focusing on the core processes of steel smelting, they jointly advanced the implementation of the RH vacuum refining furnace project. Starting from mid-December 2025, maintenance teams from both companies entered the site to comprehensively oversee the installation, commissioning, and operational adaptation of the furnace refractories. This laid a solid foundation for the efficient operation of the refractory system and the successful hot testing.
Sinosteel Luonan tailored specialized materials and process solutions based on the operational characteristics of different furnace sections. The refractories in critical areas exhibit outstanding resistance to high-temperature slag erosion, molten steel scouring, and thermal shock, establishing a reliable high-temperature protective barrier for safe and stable equipment operation. Guoliang New Materials ensured the smooth progress of the hot test through multiple rounds of technical validation and solution optimization during the preliminary design phase, followed by over a month of intensive construction.
In recent years, Sinosteel Luonan has deepened its expertise in the field of ladle metallurgy, actively promoting an integrated “materials + engineering + service” refractory management model to enhance the core competitiveness of consumable refractories in the steel industry. Guoliang New Materials has accelerated the transformation and upgrading of its product structure, establishing a comprehensive high-temperature refractory technology system covering R&D design, manufacturing, and engineering applications.
The successful hot test of Donghai Special Steel's RH refining furnace not only validates the technical prowess and service capabilities of both refractory enterprises but also provides robust support for advancing high-quality, high-efficiency refining production in the steel industry.
