Henan Iron and Steel Successfully Rolls Three-Layer Stainless Steel Composite Plate

Recently, the Second Rolling Mill Department at the Anyang Base of Henan Iron and Steel Group successfully achieved stable rolling of 304FH32 triple-layer stainless steel composite plates with a thickness of just 3 millimeters on its 1780 hot continuous rolling mill. This breakthrough signifies the Group's mastery of critical process technologies in stainless steel composite plate rolling, providing robust support for expanding its advanced steel material product portfolio and penetrating high-end markets.

The 304FH32 triple-layer stainless steel composite plate features an innovative “304 stainless steel + 201 stainless steel + 304 stainless steel” composite structure, delivering both superior performance and cost-effectiveness. Its outer layer utilizes 304 stainless steel, providing excellent corrosion resistance, wear resistance, and aesthetic quality. The intermediate layer employs 201 stainless steel to ensure overall structural strength. This product finds extensive applications in chemical equipment, marine engineering, food processing, medical devices, and high-end decorative industries.

Due to significant differences in chemical composition, thermal expansion coefficients, and deformation resistance between 201 stainless steel and 304 stainless steel, composite rolling processes are prone to issues such as delamination and difficult sheet shape control. These challenges pose severe demands on equipment precision, temperature control, and process stability. To overcome these technical bottlenecks, the operation department collaborated with the group's technical division to conduct multiple rounds of in-depth process research. They developed a comprehensive production process plan covering the entire workflow from billet preparation to finished product delivery, while refining technical standards and control points for each stage.

During production, the technical team meticulously controls critical process nodes: During the heating stage, precise regulation of heating temperature and furnace dwell time ensures that different materials simultaneously achieve the ideal plastic state. During the rolling stage, core parameters such as rolling force, reduction rate, and rolling speed are scientifically set. Real-time monitoring of plate shape changes enables dynamic optimization of rolling mill settings, guaranteeing stable and controllable plate shape and surface quality.

This successful rolling operation not only enhances Henan Iron & Steel's technological capabilities in the high-end composite materials sector but also provides downstream industries with more competitive material options, further strengthening the company's overall competitiveness in the premium steel market.
